How Do You Feel Appendix Pain? – Things You Should Know About Appendicitis!
Humans can experience pain in any part of their body. One such pain is Appendicitis in which the patient experiences severe pain in the lower abdomen where the appendix is located. Before moving further, let us first understand what is appendix.
About Appendix Pain- What Are The Things To Be Taken Care Of For Appendicitis?
Appending is a 3.5-inch long tubular structure that is an extension of the large intestine on the right side of the abdomen. To date, nobody really knows what is the use of the appendix in our bodies as it doesn’t do anything.
Appendicitis can affect people from the age group of 10 to 30. Appendicitis happens because sometimes the appendix gets blocked at the base.
This blockage can occur as a result of the presence of an external object in our body, cancer, or when an infection develops in that place. It is usually caused by an infection, in which the bacteria present causes the appendix to grow and produce pain.
There are two things that a person should be aware of when it comes to appendix pain. The appendix is located in the right lower abdomen, but the discomfort you are experiencing begins at the belly button, also known as the Perry Umbilical in medical language.
The reason for this is that when the bacteria multiply, it causes the appendix to stretch. This is a different type of pain that develops in the appendix trajectory, and it begins in the Perry Umbilical area.
The second form of pain occurs when appendix pain that began in the belly button gradually spreads to the lower right quadrant. This occurs when the appendix swells, causing the stretching pain.
Most of the time, we can’t pinpoint the source of the pain because it’s all around our abdomen. The appendix gets inflamed as a result of the bacteria stretching it.
The appendix swells even further inside the abdomen, irritating the lining of the stomach. This is when the second pain begins, and it is easy to spot since it starts in the right bottom quadrant, which is known as McBurney’s point.
This McBurney’s point is situated between the ASIS which is the Anterior Superior Iliac Spine also known as the little hip bone and your belly button is halfway to two-thirds away between those two points.
So there are two forms of pain that occur in appendicitis: stretching pain in the Perry Umbilical region and pain that spreads around the abdomen in the lower right area when the abdominal lining becomes irritated.
Symptoms Of Appendicitis:
Let’s talk about the symptoms of appendicitis now that we know what appendicitis is and why it causes pain:
👉Pain in the lower abdomen- One of the primary symptoms that have been already discussed above is the occurrence of pain in the lower abdomen or near your belly button. This pain moves to the lower region of the abdomen. If you notice such changes in the pain, you must see a doctor.
👉Loss of appetite- Appetite loss is another common sign of appendicitis. The patient is unable to consume anything due to acute pain. As appendicitis occurs on the bottom side of the large intestine, the patient loses appetite because food must eventually pass through the large intestine, which is considerably more difficult if there is swelling.
👉Experiencing nausea and vomiting just after the pain starts- Infection is one of the most common causes of appendicitis, and the dangerous bacteria present in the body cause vomiting.
👉High temperatures- The patient also suffers from fever ranging from 99°-103° F.
👉The abdomen starts to swell- Another sign is when the abdomen begins to bloat gradually as a result of inflammation.
👉Difficulty in moving- Due to swelling it is very difficult for the patient to make any kind of movement. If the patient walks or coughs there is a strike of pain in the lower abdomen and the pain starts to worsen.
👉Constipation- Constipation is another sign of appendicitis, although the patient will have trouble passing gas.
We’ve covered every aspect of appendicitis thus far, including what it is, where it comes from, its causes, and symptoms. Abdominal pain can strike at any moment.
The majority of the time, the patient is suffering from gastroenteritis, often known as stomach flu, which can be treated with medication.
There are numerous medications available to relieve stomach discomfort, but if the pain persists, a doctor should be consulted. Appendix pain is one such ailment, and if all of these symptoms are present, it is best not to ignore it.
