Many people are aware of left-side chest pain, which is directly related to heart disease. But no one is aware of the right side pain? While many people think it is normal because the heart is on the left side, it is not related to a heart problem. If the pain occurs frequently, then it becomes intense or worsens with time, and if it comes with other symptoms like tingling in the arm and face, difficulty in breathing, or fainting. Sometimes this pain can be a life-threatening situation.

Commonly the pain on the right side of the chest is temporary, and it is not a difficult situation. It can occur due to everyday stress, anxiety, acid reflux, and muscle strain. It does not matter if the pain is on the left side or right side. The pain can occur due to problems in the digestive system, lung problems, and even problems in the heart.

  1. Collapsed Lung

As the name means, a collapsed lung refers to air is pushes on the lung and makes it collapse. The other name for this is pneumothorax. However, there is no apparent reason for collapsed chest pain, but the doctor says it is related to an injury to the chest and damage caused by lung disease. The other symptoms of collapsed chest pain are shortness of breath. If the pain is not bearable, you can go to an emergency room and feel a problem in breathing.

  1. Costochondritis

It is the least common problem, but it can bring intense chest pain. Usually, the pain occurs in the middle of the chest, and it can move to the left or right side. This situation occurs when the cartilages connecting the sternum to the ribs become inflamed due to pressure changes, bad posture, and intense coughing. Costochondritis causes sensitivity issues in the central chest area, and the pain worsens while taking a deep breath. 

  1. GERD

GRED stands for gastroesophageal reflux disease, also known as acid reflux. The problem occurs due to acid, which is come from the stomach up to the esophagus. It is the common cause of the problem and usually occurs on the right side of the chest. However, other symptoms of GERD include:

  • Bitter taste in the mouth
  • Chronic cough not connected with respiratory illness

 The GERD is not severe, but it creates irritation. If GERD continues to bother you for a long time, then without wasting time, consult with the doctor. 

  1. Blunt Trauma to the Chest

The right chest pain can occur due to tears in the pectoralis muscle. Tears indirectly occurred due to trauma or a direct blow to the chest, and blunt trauma also results from rib fractures or rib replacement. The signs of chest injury and rib displacement include:

  • Swelling
  • Chest pain increases and gets worse with coughing, laughing, and sneezing
  • Tenderness
  • Shortness of breath

If you face this problem, consult immediately with the doctor, and they will decide whether the pain will heal automatically or it requires treatment.

  1. Heart Problems 

There is chest pain related to heart problems in the human body. It is a common concern of the people. This rule is not implied for the right side of chest pain, but this situation can occur if there is a heart problem to cause pain in the right side, especially if the heart muscle is inflamed. 

Commonly, heart problems occur in older people and other people with chronic issues, and those patients are hospitalized for severe infections. Heart pain is intense, and it will bring a profound sensation of tightness in the chest. 

  1. Liver Inflammation

The gallbladder and liver organs of the abdominal cavity are located on the right side of the body. When this is working adequately, pain can arise on the right side. However, the pain will occur in the abdominal area, but this pain can radiate to the chest. This pain can also produce other signs like loss of appetite, jaundice, vomiting, and everyday malaise. 

  1. Pancreatitis

When the digestive enzymes start working, the inflammation in the pancreas will occur, and it is still available in your pancreas. The enzymes will create irritation in your pancreas cells that cause organs to become inflamed. Pancreatitis is happened due to several reasons, including alcoholism and gallstones. 

However, the chest pain is not a sign of pancreatitis, but you feel the pain in your upper abdomen. The pain will also increase and transfer to your back, making you uncomfortable in your chest. Other symptoms of acute pancreatitis are:

  • Vomiting
  • High pulse
  • Fever
  • Pain in the lower abdomen area
  • Tenderness while touching your abdomen

If this problem becomes the server, you may also have an oily stool and abnormal weight loss.

  1. Stress and Anxiety

Excessive stress and anxiety can lead to a panic attack in the person, and the symptoms are similar to a heart attack, like sudden chest pain. However, the pain occurs in the center, but it will radiate to the right side 0f the body. Other symptoms that can also happen are shallow breathing, sweating, tingling in hands or feet, and shortness of breath. Unlike a heart attack, a panic attack is also common, and the chest pain may disappear within a few minutes.

  1. Covid – 19

Due to Covid, pain can occur on both sides, and the pain is usually caused by muscle strain, coughing, and body aches from fever. Possibly for pneumonia to occur due to Covid, and it will cause right chest pain. Sometimes heat issues are caused by Covid like heart failure and injury, increasing chest pain on the right side.

Due to various reasons, right-side chest pain occurs, including digestive, respiratory, and musculoskeletal problems. The problem occurs in the chest cavity itself, the upper abdomen, and even nerves in the body. Right-side chest pain is not always related to heart issues but doesn’t take it lightly. If the pain is severe, then immediately consult with a doctor.
