That Old Adage About Laughter
You know what they say…..”Laughter is the best medicine”?
According to an article with that title on http://www.helpguide.org/life/humor_laughter_health.htm, laughter is that and so much more. The article states that “More than just a respite from sadness and pain, laughter gives you the courage and strength to find new sources of meaning and hope. Even in the most difficult of times, a laugh– or even simply a smile – can go a long way toward making you feel better.”
Another article from Live Science goes so far as to say that endorphins released during laughter raise a person’s ability to ignore pain. Yes – researchers found that people’s pain thresholds were significantly increased after laughter!
Besides potential pain management, laughter has numerous other benefits that have been neatly compiled in this infographic by Greatist, a trusted health & fitness source for the young, savvy, and social. Check out their site for information on laughter and much more!
